REVISIONS TO MILK SUPPLY AND USE AND BROILER STOCKS
DATA IN USDA’S MAY 9 WASDE REPORT
OFFICE OF THE CHIEF ECONOMIST
OCE Release
Washington, May 5, 2008 -The May 9
World Agricultural
Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report will reflect changes in
the milk supply and use and broiler stocks data. U.S. commercial exports
for dairy products on a fat-basis and skim solids-basis have been added
to the table and subtracted from commercial use (table format follows).
Commercial use will reflect domestic commercial use only. Commercial
exports on a milk equivalent basis are added to the supply and use
balances in recognition of the growing importance of commercial dairy
product exports to the dairy sector.
Broiler stocks data in the May WASDE will be adjusted to
remove chicken paws, currently included in the stocks estimate, to
maintain consistency with production and export data.
Historical revisions to the milk and broiler meat supply
and use tables back to 2004 and 2003, respectively, will be available at
8:45 a.m. on May 9 at: http://www.usda.gov/oce/commodity/wasde/revisions/historical.htm.
The May 9 th
WASDE report will
present USDA’s initial assessment of U.S. and world crop supply and
demand prospects and U.S. prices for the 2008/09 season. Also presented
will be the first calendar-year 2009 projections of U.S. livestock,
poultry, and dairy products.
The WASDE report will be issued at 8:30 a.m. May 9 by
the World Agricultural Outlook Board of USDA’s Office of the Chief
Economist.
