Demand moderate to good, supply moderate. The extremely wet weather the hottest topic at most auctions this week as fall rains again halted all field work here in Missouri. These wet conditions having an effect on calf prices as receiving lots extremely wet and muddy, more like spring than fall. Grain prices trended lower this week allowing yearling cattle buyers a chance to get more aggressive in the markets, as direct slaughter cattle sales came in on a higher note. Calf buyers seem to be more selective this year, wanting to make sure that their purchases are for sure weaned at least 45 days, and having had the appropriate vaccinations. Producers have had a wonderful grazing season this year and many of the calves that are making their way to town are carrying more flesh, without the aid of supplemental feeding. Several loads of slaughter cattle still being delivered via the CME this week. Direct slaughter cattle trade finding live sales 1.00 to 2.50 higher this week from 86.00 to 88.00, and the dressed sales steady to 3.00 higher 132.00 to 139.00.
